Too Brittle to Break
Theological Imaginings on the Body of Christ
Abstract
This article offers personal reflection on the ways that formal ecclesial language has been challenging, if not ostracizing, for those whose faith journeys are riddled with doubt and grief. It contends that the vernacular of the emerging church will honor tradition while seeking innovative and compelling ways to address contemporary realities. Stemming from this reflection, and encouraged by the art of poetry, the author offers a collection of blessings to reflect on the body of Christ in ways that wrestle with the intricacies of faith and life together.
