Vol. 53 No. 4 (2026): Telling Messiah Stories in Times Like These

The theme of this issue of Currents in Theology and Mission is “Telling Messiah Stories in Times Like These” edited by Richard W. Swanson. Five theme articles explore the Gospel of Mark which is the lead Gospel for the Revised Common Lectionary readings in Year B. Authors include Mark G. Vitalis Hoffman, Tim Brown, Jason Chesnut, Richard W. Swanson, Carla Christopher, and Jenny Alexander-Allen who explore diverse perspectives on Mark. The issue also includes two Currents Focus articles on “The Danger of a Singular Order: Engaging with Controversial Texts” by Yung Suk Kim and “Race, Religion, and Corporal Punishment in the ELCA’s Social Message on Child Protection” by Victor I. Vieth and Jemour A. Maddux. The issue includes Preaching Helps to introduce weekly lectionary readings and a selection of book reviews.
