The Doctrine of Election and Christian Nationalism
A Trinitarian Response
Abstract
This article explores the ways in which Christian nationalism has drawn upon and co-opted certain articulations of the doctrine of election. Though not synonymous with Calvin, Christian nationalism has wielded and co-opted a Calvinist approach to election as a tool to advance political aspirations. The author offers a critique of this theology and explores a trinitarian alternative, detailing its theological and political implications.
