A Cruciform Eschatology is Not What Christian Nationalists Imagine
Abstract
This article ruminates on the rhetorical apocalyptical fury and implied eschatology of Christian nationalism and their contrast to proper Christian eschatology, which itself could be better understood via the theology of the cross. Christian nationalist politics are fed by, and feed, a narrow and shallow construal of Christian eschatology. Since eschatology implies ethics, and ethics mean a polity, Christian nationalists provoke “their” apocalypse by con-fusing religion and government.
