Abstract

This article introduces and analyzes central features of the Christian nationalism movement. Robust American civil religion is among five historical antecedents for its emergence. The Christian Reconstructionism (or Dominionism) of Rushdoony and the New Apostolic Reformation give shape to its biblical, theological, and ecclesiological commitments, especially among independent charismatic churches. The Seven Mountains Mandate guides its religious and political agenda. The article concludes with suggestions for responding to Christian nationalism and an annotated bibliography of several titles for further reading and research.
